Sweet 16th: Greek style coffee

Good morning friends and Happy Father's Day to all you gents out there!

Today's Sweet is a delicious shaken frothy iced coffee drink which personally, I make in a martini shaker.  Cause it's fun.  (You can shake this up in any kind of drink shaker but the martini shaker is what I have)  Also, what better way to start your day than with James Bond coffee: shaken not stirred.

This s a very simple recipe so lets get to it!

All you need is:
instant coffee (yes I know, but seriously, and nescafe works the best)
sugar
water
ice
milk (optional)

The ratios for this are for a 16oz glass.

Start with 4 teaspoons of instant coffee and 4 teaspoons of sugar.  (You can use more or less sugar depending on how sweet you like your coffee.)

Put the coffee and sugar into a shaker with 3 Tablespoons of water.

Set it aside for just a moment and fill a large glass with ice.

Hang on,  let me fix something...

That's better!

Now shake that shaker! You want the contents to turn into a smooth froth.  Pour it over the ice.

Add a little cold water.

Then add a little milk if you like and give it a quick stir with a straw.

Then enjoy!

Time flies

Holy cow you guys it's June!   Where has the time gone? (side note: I originally had a typo in my title that made it time fries.  I almost left it.)

June is a big month this year.  Who am I kidding,  it's a big month every year.

First up I've got Brass Screw Confederacy which will consist of a combination of hat selling and birthday celebrations. Not to mention crazy get-ups!

Next a boring but necessary line up of family dentist appointments.

Followed by my own birthday and my hubby's birthday.

Top it all off with the Buckley Log Show

Sprinkle in the occasional swim lesson, father's day and whatever else pops up and that's pretty much how my month is looking.

Man, just when I was starting to feel a little less stressed out.

Welp, back to work!  I have hats to finish and a skirt to hem!

Sneaky trick

I love onions.  A major confession I know.  But seriously,  I put them in just about everything.  The problem: little man 'doesn't' love them.  Well, he thinks he doesn't but has in fact eaten and enjoyed them many times without knowing when I bother to chop them so fine that he doesn't find them.  But that takes quite a bit of extra time and I'm kind of lazy when it comes to chopping things finely.

He is one of those children who is a stickler about foods not being mixed or touching and other such nonsense. But I discovered a sneaky trick the other day when we had something for dinner that had some larger pieces of herbs and spices in it.  Now, of course the little man noticed and wanted to know right away what the 'green things' were.  I told him they were spices and suddenly, magically, he didn't care about them and went ahead and ate it up!

This got me to thinking what else I could hide in food by using the magic word 'spices'.  Well, I tried it on onions the other night with complete success!  We'll see how long I can continue to get away with this :)

Little man's party!

So it's been a week and I'm still recovering/cleaning up from the little man's 4th birthday party.  But I feel bad about delaying these pictures I promised any longer.  Here are a couple of snap shots from the set up:
We had a pirate theme!  I'm not sure anyone got the 'melon cannon ball' joke here.

Pirate ships set sail in the great jello sea! (pond?)

Aaakkk!  There's an octopus attacking the cake!

Needless to say I hade a fun time putting the themed elements together here.

In other news:  Brass Screw Confederacy is almost here!  I'm a vendor again this year on top of celebrating some birthday festivities of a dear friend.  And I get to check 'go to a masquerade ball' off my bucket list so that's exciting!  (More on that later with pictures and costumes!)

I've been using my hubby's extra home time this long weekend to get a little extra work done.  And now back to it!

So it's the 16th again...

Apparently I've lost all concept of dates in my craziness lately because I completely didn't realize that it was the 16th today.  Oops!   But in replacement of what should have been today's post, I will instead have fun pictures of the little man's birthday cake in a couple of days.  (Oh my gosh he's almost four!!!)

Fantasy and Sci-fi and Music, oh my!

Hello!  Despite the gorgeous sunny weather here today, we decided to go to a museum.  The Experience Music Project (EMP) to be exact. (We went to a park afterwards and ate dinner outside so it's ok...) And we had a blast!  We actually didn't go there for the music today, instead we went for the Icons of Science Fiction, Fantasy: Worlds of Myth and Magic, and the Art of Video Games exhibits.  All were wonderful but of course I loved all of the costumes included in the fantasy area.  So lets get onto some of the highlights!

These first three guys were in the Sci-fi section:
An Imperial Dalek!

The Man of Steel

Anubis soldier from Stargate.  Such incredible detail in this thing!

These next ones were all in the Fantasy exhibit:
A Winkie costume from the Wizard of Oz

The Cowardly lion (making my post title totally relevant!)

The Princess Bride, one of my favorite movies.

Look at that detail!  Just beautiful

Another favorite: The Goblin King himself, with little man's head peeking up in front.

I love details like this epaulette. You can't see it much in the movie but it's really cool.

After we went through the extra exhibits we went and noodled around in the music area for a while because, hey, we were already there.  Why not?

A little sound mixing.
It just needs more!

This is getting a little picture heavy, but one more for ya.  On the drive up to Seattle the little man fell asleep while pouting.  This was the result:

Dawww,  look at that big pouty lip.

I love going to museums!  What are your favorite ones?

busy busy busy!

I have this rather bad habit of taking on not quite more than I can handle but enough to make it challenging to decide which thing to work on.  I'm really excited to be a vendor at The Brass Screw Confederacy again this year and I'm quite enjoying making some new hats for it.  But at the same time I feel like I should be doing so many other things like housework, or custom order work, or continuing research on grad schools.  And then the sun is shining and I really just want to be outside!  I guess I'll get it all sorted out eventually.

In the meantime:
